An educational programme that invites children to explore the A. G. Leventis Gallery through observation, play and creative expression. Using selected works from the permanent Collections of the Gallery as a starting point, young visitors discover the art of portraiture, uncover the stories behind the paintings and create their own artworks in Renoir’s Workshop.

The programme aims to familiarise children with the Gallery and its Collections, encourage them to observe works of art closely, express their thoughts and emotions, develop their imagination through hands-on activities and create their own portraits inspired by the paintings they have explored.

The programme includes the following educational stations (selection of one artwork):

1. Pierre-Auguste Renoir, The Ruff (Claude Renoir)

Who is young Claude (Coco) and why is he dressed in such an unusual costume?

Through discussion, movement activities and imaginative play, the children explore the emotions of the young boy, discover the concept of portraiture and create their own unique self-portrait inspired by Renoir’s masterpiece.

Ages: 4-8 years (kindergarten & 1st-3rd grades)

Duration: 1 hour – all educational programmes begin at 10.00 onwards
